Women’s Leather Winter Ankle Boots

Women’s winter ankle boots need to keep feet warm and dry for months without compromising the look of an outfit. They cover the ankle, fit beneath trousers or a long skirt, and can be worn from October to March, with a long coat or a puffer jacket. Our women’s winter ankle boots are made in leather, which softens within a few days and develops a beautiful patina over time. They complete our collection of women's shoes, from flat styles to taller boots.

Flat, heeled or sock ankle boots: which should you choose?

Between these three styles, the choice depends above all on the pace of the day. For plenty of walking, flat ankle boots offer more stability on wet ground and tire the feet less. Sock ankle boots, in very supple leather, hug the ankle and fit beneath wide-leg trousers without bunching. Heeled ankle boots create a more upright silhouette and work better with a midi skirt or a dress. When choosing a size, it is worth considering the thickness of winter socks. When the rain sets in, a pair of boots with higher shafts or women’s winter boots offer more protection for the leg.

How to wear ankle boots with jeans or a dress

With a raw denim jeans, two options work well. Straight-leg jeans that fall over the shaft lengthen the leg, while shorter jeans ending just above it reveal the leather. Beneath a dress or long skirt, a slim ankle boot leaves a few centimetres of wool socks, a detail that brings warmth to the outfit. With a short dress, opaque tights in the same shade as the ankle boots extend the line of the leg.

Black or brown ankle boots?

For a first pair of women’s winter ankle boots, black ankle boots are the easiest to wear. They go with almost anything, from a dark dress to tailored trousers. Brown ankle boots bring more warmth to an outfit, especially with cream, camel or marl grey. A visible seam across the top of the foot, grained leather or split leather with lighter tones then sets one pair apart from another. With a wool trousers that falls over the shaft, a brown pair lengthens the silhouette. Leather conditioned from fall onwards and dried away from the radiator stays supple through several winters.
